Fortnite’s newly introduced “Star Wars” event has stimulated a huge wave of discontent among players. The players seem not to be offered sufficient content updates unless one quarterly purchases the game extension known as Lego Fortnite.
Players concerns
In addition to the official complaints concerning the products’ scarceness, the event started with some great reviews. There is a rough estimate for acquiring the whole set. Given the novelty of the new content, these expensive rates have made things even worse for the existing players.
Furthermore, the cosmetic collection has received interesting responses. Players have welcomed the inclusion of both Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca (this last one was available for those who purchased the Lego Battle Pass), but a number of them have expressed anger about the fact that a generic Stormtrooper and another Luke Skywalker skin (this time different shade of hair) have also been added, since people were expecting more diverse and iconic characters.
The center of the problem, whatsoever, has always been more emphasis on the Battle Royale mode as the core experience. In contrast to issuing any significant extra features, the reproduction of Chewbacca’s Bowcaster weapon is presented as the one noteworthy thing in this core experience. While certain items that have already been launched, namely, Darth Vader Lightsaber and the E-11 Blaster, are also available despite being reboots, this makes players to think that communal game mode has been ignored.
Battle Royale Mode neglected?
In the meantime, the new Lego Fortnite mode is much more stuffed with content additions and updates, which in turn makes it read like a completely different game. This may upset some players who mostly engage with the original battle royale. The devs’ concentration on the new mode might be reasonable, but the gamers who have been playing the classic Battle Royale for ages are likely to have mixed feelings about such a shift in focus.
Sadly, the community’s feedback on this year’s Star Wars event is negative, with players expressing their fascination across multiple social media sites. The user IRS_Agent-636 from Reddit provides a perfect example of such statements on the material disabled between the Battle Royale and Lego Fortnite additions.
This could foster widespread disapproval of a sport, which may lead to a decrease in the number of individuals who are interested in the sport and might negatively impact player retention.
