Hackers Return $19.2M in Stolen Crypto to U.S. Government Wallet

In a breakthrough for crypto recovery, hackers have returned $19.2 million to a U.S. government wallet after an extensive investigation led by blockchain sleuth ZachXBT. The funds were part of a larger $243 million theft in August, where attackers, using social engineering tactics, drained 4,064 BTC from a Genesis creditor. Initially, assets were moved across exchanges like Switchain and HitBTC. While ZachXBT’s efforts have already frozen $9 million of the stolen assets, the recovery process continues as authorities trace the remaining funds across wallets and exchanges.
