Imposter Alert: Craig Wright’s False Identity as Satoshi Nakamoto!

The self declared creator of Bitcoin, is again in the spotlight. Craig Wright has faced significant legal setbacks and controversy over his claims to be the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.

On July 16, the UK High Court issued a judgment against Wright, sharing the view emphatically that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto! The declaration came after a thorough examination of evidence presented by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), which is a group dedicated to promoting innovation in the evolving crypto space.

Forgeries and Lies Exposed

It all started from 2016, when Wright started to claim that he was Satoshi Nakamoto and thus attempted to assert his rights over Bitcoin’s intellectual property in a very aggressive way.

However, the court found that Wright had produced forgeries and tampered with documents in order to support his self made claims. The turning point was, when the Judge James Mellor concluded that the creator of a highly technical system like Bitcoin would not make the careless errors found in Wright’s evidence.

Judgment didn’t stop there! In addition to ruling against Wright’s claims, Judge Mellor referred Wright to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for possible prosecution for perjury and forgery. The judge highlighted that Wright had lied extensively and forged documents “on a grand scale.” The CPS will decide whether to prosecute Wright for the wrong doings and potentially seek his arrest and extradition.

Wright’s legal troubles worsened due to a defamation lawsuit loss against podcaster Peter McCormack, resulting in asset freezing to cover $2 million in legal fees. Furthermore, the court issued several injunctions against Wright and prevented him from making any further claims about being Satoshi Nakamoto, requiring him to delete any such statements from his website where he claimed to be Satoshi!

As an update, Wright’s website now displays a disclaimer stating that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto.

Authorities ordered him not to take any legal actions based on his false claims. This development is a significant moment in the ongoing story about the real creator of Bitcoin. This also serves as a warning against making unproven claims in the crypto world.

Closing Thoughts

This investigation is almost over. As the crypto community waits for the CPS investigation results, this case shows how important honesty and transparency are in the industry. Such incidents teach us for a better future, as the ruling affects Wright and sets an example for handling similar claims in the future.
