North Korean Hackers Use Chrome Vulnerability To Steal Cryptocurrency

Citrine Sleet, a North Korean hacking group, was attacked by exploiting a vulnerability in Google Chrome. The vulnerability known as CVE-2024-7971 is linked with Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine and let hackers trick users into downloading malicious software through a simulated website. It also attacked a Windows kernel vulnerability, by which the attacker installed a rootkit called FudModule. Microsoft became aware of the exploit on the 19th of August and released a security update on the 21st of the same month and the year. People are encouraged to review Chrome and install the latest Windows security updates to avoid falling victim.
