But something strange has caught people’s attention—Paul Atkins, the new SEC Chair, is missing from the plan.

Paul Atkins Not in The List

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the appointment of Paul Atkins to lead the SEC. The U.S. Senate reportedly confirmed this on April 9

Naturally, many expected to see him leading the charge, especially during such a high-profile crypto discussion. But instead, the SEC listed acting chair Mark Uyeda as the official lead for the upcoming April 25 event.

So far, the SEC hasn’t made any official statement about Atkins starting his new role. And since his name isn’t on the event list, people are wondering — is there a delay, or is something else going on?

What’s on the Crypto Roundtable Agenda?

Despite the confusion, the April 25 roundtable will proceed as planned. The event will bring together key industry names like Kraken, Anchorage Digital, Exodus, and Fidelity. 

They’ll join SEC Commissioners Hester Peirce and Caroline Crenshaw to discuss how crypto assets should be safely held, an issue known as custody.

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, a key figure in crypto policy development, emphasized the need for clarity around crypto custody rules.

If crypto is going to be part of the official financial system, these issues need to be resolved transparently and collaboratively,” Peirce said during a recent panel.

Until the SEC clears the air on Atkins’ position, speculation will continue. The crypto world is waiting to know when he will officially start. Until then, many questions remain.
