Ripple Adds $5 Million to Boost Blockchain Research in APAC

Ripple Labs announced a $5 million investment to develop blockchain education and research programs throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) will distribute the funding to build upon Ripple’s existing academic partnerships.

Ripple Labs recently announced a new allocation of funds following their previous commitment that included a $25 million pledge last month for U.S. nonprofit educational organizations.

New Grants Target Universities in Taiwan and Australia

Ripple’s latest contribution brings new funding to academic institutions in Taiwan and Australia. The University Blockchain Research Initiative has partnered with the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan.

The collaboration focuses on exploring real-world asset tokenization using the XRP Ledger. Ripple aims to promote practical blockchain applications while strengthening regional academic expertise.

In Australia, Ripple has expanded its involvement with local universities. The initiative now includes Victoria University alongside its existing partnership with the Australian National University. The total amount allocated to universities in Australia has reached $1.3 million. Ripple continues to enhance blockchain education by equipping institutions with resources to advance research and innovation.

Partnerships Continue Across South Korea, Japan, and Singapore

Besides new partnerships, UBRI’s existing programs in the region continue to receive significant support. Yonsei University in South Korea has secured $1.1 million in funding over a six-year collaboration. In Japan, UBRI has extended $1.5 million to both Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo.

Singapore remains one of the key beneficiaries of Ripple’s academic funding. Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore have jointly received over $3 million.

Professor Yang Liu from Nanyang Technological University noted that the grants have contributed to building an autonomous AI agent network on the XRP Ledger. This initiative aims to integrate blockchain technology into a transparent and modular AI framework.

Ripple’s Global Strategy in Academic Development

Ripple’s approach to supporting academic institutions extends beyond Asia-Pacific. In May, the company allocated $25 million in RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin, to educational nonprofits in the United States. These funds are intended to provide better tools and resources for educators nationwide.

Earlier this year, Ripple also launched the National Cryptocurrency Association. The nonprofit organization focuses on enhancing digital asset education across the country. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced a $50 million grant to support this initiative. Ripple has strategically invested financial resources throughout regional markets and global blockchain literacy.

Through its renewed research initiatives in Asia-Pacific Ripple shows its dedication toward advancing global digital finance education. This $5 million investment enables the University Blockchain Research Initiative to further academic development and innovative research. This support empowers APAC entities to become leaders in creating practical blockchain and digital asset applications.
