This news is certainly a shocker to all, but especially for Marvel fans!
Tom Holland, famous for playing Spider-Man in Marvel movies, has become the latest victim of a social media hack. On April 16, fans were left puzzled when Holland’s X (formerly Twitter) account hinted at a potential partnership with Binance, a major cryptocurrency exchange.
We Have an Imposter!
The post that was later removed announced Holland as promoting a new digital currency called $SPIDER coin which presumably was associated with a Spider-Verse project. The post encouraged followers to sign up for early access to this new cryptocurrency and NFTs.
Holland’s sudden dive into cryptocurrency raised eyebrows, given his usual silence on such topics.
Adding to the Suspicions
Further adding to the confusion, Holland’s bio was altered to include a link to a website offering fake partnership details. This change only fueled suspicions of unauthorized access to the account.
Shortly after the crypto promotion, another strange image emerged—a selfie of an unknown person, with a caption referencing Sam Raimi’s 2002 Spider-Man film starring Tobey Maguire.

Security Concerns Highlighted
Both the cryptocurrency pitch and the mysterious selfie were swiftly removed, raising concerns about the security of Holland’s X account and the hackers’ motives. While Holland himself has yet to comment, the prompt removal of the posts suggests a proactive response from either the star or his management team to prevent further unauthorized activity.
The Risks of Being a “Star”?
This incident highlights the dangers faced by high-profile figures on social media platforms. Celebrities and public personalities are prime targets for cybercriminals seeking to exploit their influence for financial gain.
Just earlier this year, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen fell victim to a similar hack, resulting in a staggering $112 million loss. Cybercriminals leverage factors like personalized messages and large follower counts to orchestrate fraudulent schemes. It’s absolutely crucial that celebrities take extra steps to ensure their accounts are secure and investors must triple-verify any such claims before buying into any tool.
