Instead of a formal reply, he took a lighthearted approach, confirming his willingness to visit while joking about bringing “several cans of Diet Coke” for Trump, referencing Trump’s favorite beverage.
The two leaders already have a friendly relationship. They reportedly spoke after Trump’s inauguration, and Trump later thanked Bukele for his cooperation on US border security matters.
If it happens, Bukele would be the first Western Hemisphere leader to meet Trump at the White House during his current term.
