Singh’s cooperation, described as exemplary, was crucial in revealing how FTX’s systems facilitated the misuse of customer funds.

Key Revelations and Assistance

Authorities revealed that Singh provided detailed insights into Sam Bankman-Fried’s involvement in illegal transactions. Additionally, Singh exposed illegal activities not previously identified, including a massive campaign finance violation linked to Ryan Salame and Bankman-Fried.

He also uncovered how Bankman-Fried falsified financial records to inflate FTX’s profitability. This new information was critical in building the government’s case.

Singh’s Extensive Involvement

Following his guilty plea, Singh met with prosecutors over 20 times. He reviewed various digital documents, including computer code, emails, and spreadsheets, to help decode relevant evidence.

His involvement extended beyond the meetings, demonstrating his dedication to clarifying the full scope of FTX’s operations. Authorities credited Singh for uncovering major details about the exchange’s fraudulent practices.

Potential Sentence Reduction

The prosecutors suggested that the court should take into account a lesser sentence under Section 5K1.1 of the US Sentencing Guidelines. This clause offers the possibility of a reduced sentence if a defendant offers substantial assistance in pursuing criminal actions.

Singh’s lawyers also advocated for leniency, stating that his involvement was minimal in comparison to individuals such as Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison.

Comparison with Other FTX Executives

Unlike Singh, other FTX leaders received harsher sentences. Bankman-Fried received 25 years in prison, while Caroline Ellison was sentenced to two years. Singh’s legal team has requested a time served sentence, emphasizing his limited role and cooperation.

Singh’s efforts also contributed to avoiding further damage, particularly for FTX Japan, which was spared from collapse due to his early interventions.

By collaborating extensively, Singh demonstrated a commitment to correcting the fallout from the exchange’s failure, setting his case apart from other executives.
